Sony announced a reduction in the price of its handheld video game console PSP Go in United States and Japan. This happens precisely when the important holiday shopping season is coming.
Apparently, Sony took this decision also motivated by the move of Nintendo (one of its major competitors), which a month ago announced that the 3DS video-games console won’t be available for sale until February next year.
The price of the latest version of the PSP, which was launched approximately one year ago, will be lowered from $249 to $199 (about 20%) in United States, and from 26,800 yen to 16,800 yen in Japan (about 37%).
Sony, which this Friday will make public the third quarter 2010 results of operations, has sold around 61 million units of different models of its PSP since the launch of the first version of the console in 2004.
