Both the DVD player comes with supporting various file formats including DVD, CD, DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD + R, DVD + R DL, DVD-RW and DVD + RW. It also offers multi-format playback. For DVD-S68 model, will provide HD 1080p up-conversion and features Multiple Remote Operation with Single (HDMI-CEC) and Dolby Digital for high-quality audio. Both models (DVD-S68 and DVD-S4), also supported by the USB port for direct media playback. Still, there are no pricing details and the official release date.

Acer revealed a new Aspire RevoView network media streamer DLNA certified machine. It’s support full HD 1080p playback, internal swappable 3.5-inch HDD support up to 2TB which can use to share media between Acer RevoView and your computer/laptop on the same network.

Acer Aspire RevoView includes two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, 10/100 ethernet, S/PDIF optical, digital, component and composite. The codecs support including MKV, MP4, H.264 and even ISO.

The Aspire RevoView comes with a handy 26 keys remote control for media playback functions and the main function can be access through dedicated keys for such as videos, photos and music. RevoView networked HD media player should go on sale in the UK on 8 November, pricing being set at 120 pounds sterling (193 US dollars)

Now there’s even a media player that gets its juice from the sun. Ah, the benefits of alternative, cleaner reusable sources of energy. Personally, I have to wonder if some eco-friendly organization had a hand in developing or producing this device known as the Eclipse from Sony. Anyway, its primary use of solar power is made possible by photovoltaic cells located on its other side. The cells is designed to draw in sunlight for energy whenever you place it on a window with the help of a suction cup.

Furthermore, this media player will also include Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to stream audio content from a MP3 player or receive weather updates, podcasts and radio transmissions. However, it is important to note that this Sony media player is a conceptual device so I have to wonder how close this “Eclipse” is to actual completion in its development as a functioning product. Thus, the wait is on to see if or when it gets released in the near or distant future. Alas, plenty of cool ideas out there never make it past the concept and design table.

IRiver, a loser in the war between the iPod and All Other MP3 Players, has added a Wi-Fi e-reader to its smart Story range. The new Story is now on sale at the UK bookstore WHSmith, and will link up with WHSmith’s own e-book store.

Like iRiver’s old media players, the Story offers a lot of features not found elsewhere. In addition to decent format support (EPUB, PDF, TXT, FB2 and DJVU) it also displays comic-book sin the CBZ format, although of course you can’t view them in color on the grayscale 800 x 600 e-ink screen. You can also record voice-memos, listen to music (MP3, WMA and OGG) and slide in an SD card of up to 32GB (it also has 2GB on-board storage).

The big problem is the price. In a world where you pay $150 for big-brand e-books from Sony and Barnes and Noble, and even the Kindle is under $200, the Story costs way too much. The RRP is £250, which translates to an astonishing $380, or the price of the new black Kindle DX. Good luck with that.

Coby may not always produce the sleekest of devices, but the company has certainly come through on that count with its new MP570 MP3 player, which is bound to turn a few heads. Questionably functional design aside, however, this one is about as basic as can be, with it packing just 2GB of flash storage and no memory card slot, support for only MP3 and WMA formats, and a built-in rechargeable battery that promises just five hours of audio playback -- but, hey, it sure is shiny. No word on pricing or availability just yet, nor is there any indication of how you're actually supposed to use it.
