If you’ve been following the home theater related tech community (which you probably have considering you’re reading this site) you’ll undoubtedly know of the rivalry between Google TV and Apple TV. While both products are quite capable at doing what they set out to do, Google TV has some distinct advantages over the Apple TV.

One advantage, for instance, is the fact that Google TV owners have the chance to actually browse the web through the platform from their television without ever having to leave the couch.

Well, for you adventurous folk out there it seems that the Apple TV is going to get the same treatment soon enough. Of course, you’re going to have to jailbreak your device in order to get down on the web browsing goodness but tehn again, don’t you have to jailbreak all Apple products to unlock their true potential?

No word on when a public Apple TV web browser will be released but we will keep you posted.

Japanese Market Shows Sale of 130,000 3D TVs in 6 Months – 4.1% of TVs Sold 37-inches and Up 0 komentar

There are various trends happening in just about every technology niche on the market but in the display world there is one in particular that stands out above the rest. Can’t guess what I’m talking about? Well, 3D displays, of course.

While many consumers have gotten a chance to try out 3D displays, not too many have felt the need to buy one. Couple that with the premium you’re forced to pay for a 3D TV and you can see why sales are some what slow. However, oiver in Japan things are a bit different as it seems that 3D TV sales are starting to pick up. In fact, it was just announced today that 130,000 3D TVs were sold in Japan in the last 6 months. This means that 4.1% of all televisions sold that were 37-inches and up were of the 3D type. Top television manufacturers that add to this number including Sony, Sharp, Toshiba and Panasonic.

People of Lava finally Launch Scandinavia Android TV 0 komentar

Some of you may remember when we covered People of Lava, and their attempt Scandinavia Android TV.

It would appear that they have been successful, and they are releasing Scandinavia in Sweden. These 55-inch model televisions ship with Android 1.5 with starter widgets for Google, Chrome, Facebook, YouTube, and Google Maps. There is only 20 more apps you can get from here, but the company hopes to have 1,000 more by the end of the year.

It does cost a bit at $5,280 (that’s like a mile’s worth of dollars, if dollars were feet). I wonder if you can get Netflix on it.
